"My art is my search for the moments beyond the ones of self knowledge. It is the rhythmic fantasy; a restless streak which looks for its own fulfillment! A stillness that moves within! An intense search for my origin and ultimate identity". - Meena

I will be a HUMAN BOOK with 16 other live HUMAN BOOKS at Brampton Library, Chingnacousy Branch on 19th Oct. 2 -3:30pm. I would love share GLIMPSES OF DIVERSE LIFE with all .

Launching Unique Library Books at Brampton Library

StarBuzz Weekly, Toronto-Brampton Library will be launching its First Human Library event which is planned during the Ontario Public Library Week and is a part of the third annual Library Settlement Partnership Day. It is scheduled on Wednesday Oct 19, 2011 from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Chinguacousy Branch.

A Human Library is an innovative way for people to reach out and connect with individuals in their community that they might not normally engage with. The Human Library works just like a normal library but interestingly the 'Books' are people and 'reading' them involves a conversation. The concept for the Human Library originated in Copenhagen in 2000 and has since been reproduced in 60 countries all over the world.

Human Library promotes dialogue and discussion about professional and personal stories, lifelong learning and social connections, and celebrates differences and breaks down boundaries and enables people in our community to learn from each other. The theme of Human Library will
be 'World of Success', focusing on the theme of stories of successful
people with a personal history that involves immigrating to Canada. Some
of the titles of Human Books are:

*          Open closets and closed doors

*          Beyond the veil

*          Glimpses of a diverse life

*          Wheeling through life

*          Cooking through a cultural storm

*          Librarian without borders

*          Recorder of the changing society

*          Over the Wall, Across the Ocean

*          More than skin deep

This one day pilot event in partnership with Citizenship Immigration Canada, Brampton Multicultural Community Centre and Brampton Library will take place on Wed. Oct 19, 2011 at the Chinguacousy Branch from 2-5 pm.

Customers will be able to place holds on their chosen human books
starting today.  During the Human Library event, our customers will be
able to "check out" a Human Book for 20 minute sessions, during which,
they will be able to discuss a variety of topics.
